Sydney Mabalayo – CEO
Sydney, a qualified Electrical Engineer is currently the CEO at Electro Inductive Industries (Pty) Ltd, a transformer manufacturing company based in Cape Town. Sydney commenced his working career as an Engineer-in-Training at AECI. Thereafter he moved to the IDC where he was involved in project finance for various sectors served by the IDC. He left the IDC to join Eskom as a Senior Engineer in Distribution responsible for planning and design. Thereafter he moved to Lebone Engineering, an Electrical Engineering Consulting Company as a partner. He sold his interest in Lebone Engineering and co-founded Inter Southern Power (Pty) Ltd.
A graduate of the University of Cape Town (UCT), Sydney also serves as a Non-Executive director at Broadband Infraco (SOC) and the CEO of Electro Inductive Industries (Pty) Ltd. Sydney also served on the IDC Credit Committee for more than 10 years.
He has completed a Masters in Business Administration (Wits Business School), Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Wits), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (UCT) and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He is Senior Member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers.
Abduraghiem Brandt - Director
Abduraghiem (‘Ghiem’) Brandt, Finance Director at Electro Inductive Industries (Eii). Under his leadership he has created an effective and respected Financial function and has played a significant role as a member of the Eii Executive during a turbulent time in the organisation’s history.
He has over 30 years of financial and operations experience, including 13 years with the South African division of Johnson Controls, the global automotive company. During this time, he also fulfilled the role of Operations Controller responsible for five production facilities and played a key role in evaluating areas of performance improvement in the areas of operational performance, purchasing and logistics. This required global benchmarking, best practice evaluation and change management to enhance competitiveness relative to competitor manufacturing plants. ‘Ghiem’ also managed a diverse financial function with a strong emphasis on international financial reporting and analysis.
Fundiswa Yuba - HR Executive
Fundi is a new, and younger member of the team with a passion for bringing structure and defining Eii’s organizational culture through her role as the Human Resources Executive, for the last year.
Fundiswa has over 13 years of leadership experience gained at various multinationals within South Africa. With a specialization in organisational psychology, Fundi has an appreciation of the importance of human resource when it comes to business operations, and the strategic role HR must play in Eii’s success. This has been enhanced through her work in shipping (Maersk Line), telecommunications (MTN SA) and the IT industry.
Her role within the executive is to first be the voice of younger employees, and to give millennials a voice; to adequately represent the female agenda and to ultimately try and create an organisational culture that is clearly defined and brings out the best in its people.

Jacobus (JD) Gerber - Operational Executive
JD is a professional and registered engineer with more than 35 years of general management experience in the electrical supply industry. He is a dynamic, self-motivated executive with strong leadership skills and playing a major role in the development, growth and success of Electro Inductive Industries (Eii). He graduated as an engineer at the University of Stellenbosch in 1982 and completed his MBA at the same university in 1991. When he decided to leave Eskom during 1995, he was part of the engineering management team of the Western Cape Region. During the years to follow, he distinguished himself as a holistic thinker in the re-engineering of total business processes to support new strategic initiatives. After exercising various positions in Eii, from shareholder and director, to business support, supply chain management and commercial manager, he is now in the position of Operational Executive for the last few years. Under his operational leadership, Eii is in the process to establish itself as a major role player in the manufacturing of power transformers in South Africa. His passion for and knowledge of the industry supports his operational abilities and it is his dream that Eii must reach its full potential to be one of the best manufacturers of transformers in Southern Africa.
Abdul-Kadir Khatib - Technical Executive
Mr Abdul-Kadir Khatib best known as AK by his colleagues, Technical Executive of Electro Inductive Industries (PTY) Ltd. Mr Khatib has been with Electro Inductive Industries (PTY) Ltd for over 10 years and has extensive experience within transformer manufacturing industry.
His passion, attitude, expertise and leadership skills have contributed to the success of Electro Inductive Industries (PTY) Ltd since his appointment as Engineering Manager in 2012 and later Technical Executive in 2014.
Under his leadership and technical guidance, Electro Inductive Industries (PTY) Ltd managed all limitations to break through the renewable energy market to manufacture, test and deliver their first wind turbine pad mounted transformer in 2013. He has also been instrumental in ensuring Electro Inductive Industries (PTY) Ltd maintains all industry related accreditations i.e. ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, SANS 780.
